SAINT PETER’S HOLY NAME SOCIETY April, 2009 |
Holy Name Sunday-April 19th 2009 Holy Name Sunday begins with Mass & Corporate Communion at 9 o'clock in the Church of St. Peter. Afterwards, we will meet in the school cafeteria for coffee and donuts and a brief business meeting. Please note that we are meeting on the 3rd Sunday this month because of Easter Sunday. Also, Fr. Chuck Henkle, our spiritual advisor, will continue with the monthly spiritual reflections. Last month's reflection dealt with the many faces of Adversity and how we deal with it. An example was Mary of Nazareth overcame many adversity encounters by having a child in a manger, traveling on a donkey in the middle of the night to a foreign city and witnessing her son dying on a cross for all mankind. How have we handled adversity when it confronts us? The April reflection topic is "CAN I BE TAUGHT AT MY AGE." Hope to see you there! 54th Annual Awards Banquet The Lorain County Deanery of the Holy Name Societies invites you and all Holy Name Members, with their families and friends, to the 54th Annual Awards banquet on April 26th 2009 at Elyria St. Mary's Parish Hall, 320 Middle Avenue, Elyria, Ohio. This is a change from previous years because we are trying to keep the cost down and offer a better program. Happy Hour with hors d'oeuvres starts at 5:00 pm along with Cocktails & Entertainment. Dinner will be catered by Fligner's and will start at 6:00 pm followed by the Awards program. Please see the enclosed flyer for all the information. This year the Church of St. Peters will honor and recognize Robert Broglio and Margaret DiFrancesco for their dedication and service to the Holy Name Society. The cost this year is $15.00 per person and reservations must be made by April 17, 2009. Please join us in the annual celebration of Lorain County Deanery Holy Namers. Please call Richard Meck 282-2535 or myself 282-6999 with any questions or reservations. St. Peter Holy Name Membership Dues The month of March is the annual membership drive and renewal of membership for St. Peters Holy Name Society. Our dues are only$5.00 per person and most of the budget is spent on charitable donations, the purchase of Christmas poinsettias for the homebound, and we help subsidize some of the Lorain County Deanery events to members of St. Peters Holy Name Society. We offer spiritual growth and reflection and an opportunity to socialize and participate in many of the parish functions throughout the year. We also pay our respect to deceased members of the St. Peter Holy Name Society by reciting the rosary at their wake. Please fill out the renewal notice on the other side of this newsletter and return to the parish center, collection basket or at one of the monthly Holy Name meetings. Thank you to all of you who have given so much of your time and talent to keeping the Holy Name Society alive and vibrant at St. Peters Church in Lorain. God Bless, Anthony T.
